Mary's Commandment

Mary (mother of Jesus) was blessed by God with a very unique life. She had the privilege to see Jesus grow up to be a man, preach the gospel, die on the cross, raise to life and start his church. Luke says in 2:51 "Then he (Jesus) went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them (Mary and Joseph). But his mother treasured all those things in her heart."

In John 2:1-4 we see Mary & Jesus at the wedding and they had run out of wine. Mary asked Jesus to do something and in verse 5 she said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you." At that moment, Mary was concerned about the wine for the wedding. To me, the words "Do whatever he tells you." is a great thing for all His believers to follow.

John 14: 15-17 Jesus says "If you love me, you will obey what I command, and I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever- v17 the Spirit of Truth. (what a promise) We can be blessed beyond measure if we learn and do whatever he tells us to do!! Read about in the Gospels.

Got Muzzle?

Have you ever come out of situation, saying to your self I wish I had not said that? Maybe a situation came up and you took an action that you regretted later. These things can happen unexpectedly before you have time to think of the right thing to say or do.

David said in Psalm 39:1 " I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth as long as the wicked are in my presence."

As Christians, we need to keep in mind that we are His witnesses to those around us. The situation can be at work, around the water cooler, in the break room, or at a place of leisure activities. Colossians 4:5&6 has the answer. "Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders, make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. Pray that Jesus will provide you with this grace.
