Adam's disturbing discovery

In Genesis 1:27, we see "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. In 2:20 " So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the sky and all the beasts of the field.

In Genesis we see Adam & Eve sinned 3;6 and in verse 7 "Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked: so they sewed fig leaves together and made covering for themselves." Apparently they thought that their action would take care of their sin and were satisfied the issue was settled. Well maybe not because when God came to them in the garden they hid from Him. In verses 3:8 to 20 we have the dialogue and pronouncement of the change to come about.

In verse 21 " The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them." Imagine Adams thought of Lord where did you get the skins and did one of my animal friends have to die to provide the covering for us?" "Their plan of fig leaves had failed and God had to take charge and provide the proper covering.

God has indeed provided us a way out from our sin."

Look at Romans 5:17. For if by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant promises of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life though the one man, Jesus Christ."

Our friend Jesus Christ died for us and rose again to take away our sins. God has provided a proper covering for our sins.

Mary's Commandment

Mary (mother of Jesus) was blessed by God with a very unique life. She had the privilege to see Jesus grow up to be a man, preach the gospel, die on the cross, raise to life and start his church. Luke says in 2:51 "Then he (Jesus) went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them (Mary and Joseph). But his mother treasured all those things in her heart."

In John 2:1-4 we see Mary & Jesus at the wedding and they had run out of wine. Mary asked Jesus to do something and in verse 5 she said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you." At that moment, Mary was concerned about the wine for the wedding. To me, the words "Do whatever he tells you." is a great thing for all His believers to follow.

John 14: 15-17 Jesus says "If you love me, you will obey what I command, and I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever- v17 the Spirit of Truth. (what a promise) We can be blessed beyond measure if we learn and do whatever he tells us to do!! Read about in the Gospels.

Got Muzzle?

Have you ever come out of situation, saying to your self I wish I had not said that? Maybe a situation came up and you took an action that you regretted later. These things can happen unexpectedly before you have time to think of the right thing to say or do.

David said in Psalm 39:1 " I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth as long as the wicked are in my presence."

As Christians, we need to keep in mind that we are His witnesses to those around us. The situation can be at work, around the water cooler, in the break room, or at a place of leisure activities. Colossians 4:5&6 has the answer. "Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders, make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. Pray that Jesus will provide you with this grace.

Time Out!!!

OK---it's Time Out!!
This phrase is heard many times in families with children. It is usually spoken when a situation is out of control and needs to have a quick halt brought about. In the adult world, there are times when we need a time out. Sometimes when we are very focused on a project or a set of circumstances. we need to stop, step back, to get a fresh approach or just plain rest and relieve frustrations.
One example we can look to is in Matt. 14:23. Jesus had just finished feeding the five thousand. Verse 23 says: after he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountain side by himself to pray. When evening came he was then alone. Jesus took time out to be with his Father to refresh and recharge his spirit.
After this time out, he went for a walk on the water to rescue his disciples in the boat. Read about it in Matt.14:24-33. Your time out results probably won't be quite as powerful. However you should have smooth sailing, if you include
our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus in your prayer time outs. Give it a try.
